Capture, a year counting backwards, & Keep.
Newest work: Storytelling V2 — two complete art directions and a life-route map, 20 Sep.
Four things were taken from the Kalso site and nothing else: the type, Bodoni Moda 500 against Courier Prime on a dotted printed-paper ground; the hero, one enormous thing on warm paper; the map, a torn-paper country with a dashed trail walked across it, which here is the UK; and the dot cursor. Adam's exact spec for the paper, the faces and the cursor is what these pages are built on.
The one real change is the direction. Kalso counts forwards, 1905 to 2021, because it is a company telling you how long it has been going. This counts backwards, 2026 to 1938, because it is a person, and the further back you scroll the less of it anybody has written down. That is the whole sales argument, told without a sentence of sales copy.
What was deliberately not taken: the scroll-jacked journey, the changing background colour, the era-by-era display faces and the loading animation. Kalso is a one-page brand film for a shoe. This site has forty-one pages, a hundred questions on one of them, and people arriving from a Google search at eleven at night because a parent has had a diagnosis. It needs to be readable on the second visit.
This board is public on captureandkeep-design.rank4ai.co.uk so ChatGPT and other assistants can read it from a pasted link. Every page still carries a noindex tag, because the copy here is lifted word for word from the live site and an indexable second copy would compete with it in search. robots.txt allows crawling, which is what an assistant actually needs. Nothing on these pages has been deployed. captureandkeep.co.uk is untouched and still on the current ivory-and-green design. Copy is lifted from the live site so the comparison is fair. Photographs are the same Pexels stand-ins the live site uses. The example life on the map is invented and labelled as such: no page here claims a real client, a price, a lead time or an inclusion that is not already settled.
Two full art directions, and a map that finally does something.
The brief moved on from "make it look like Kalso" to "make scrolling feel like discovering somebody's life". Seven chapters, a life route drawn across Britain as you scroll, architectural line drawings, fragments resolving into the finished passage, and two complete colour directions to choose between: A warm / vintage / earthy and B faded rose / green / burgundy.

Everything below is the earlier paper-and-ink study. It is kept, not replaced: the current design is still at home.html.
Capture 2026 & Keep, and everything under it.
Every section of the live homepage, restyled: the entity block, how it works, the three doors, what you get, the passage, Amanda, pricing, gift vouchers, the free questions and guides, the FAQ and the final call to action. Same copy as production, word for word, so the comparison is honest.
The year now sits inside the name. Capture, then the year travelling back from 2026 to 1938, then & Keep. There is no logo or nav above it, per your spec: the wordmark is the hero, and the nav slides in once you scroll past it.

2026, all the way back to 1938, before you have touched anything.
It plays itself the moment the page opens, like time travelling. The recent decades whip past and the last few years crawl, so the longest anybody looks at a single year is the one nobody in the family has written down. It lands on 1938 and the call to action fades up underneath. Bodoni Moda 500 for the year, Courier Prime under it, the dot cursor, and an Again button because people will want to watch it twice.
Reduced-motion users skip straight to 1938 and the landed state, so nobody who has asked their machine to stop moving things gets five seconds of counting.
The frame below replays it each time it loads, but it wants a full window: rollback.html
Bodoni Moda, Courier Prime, and Fraunces kept for reading.

The headline becomes the thing on the page.
A direct restyle of what is live now: same H1, same lede, same CTA, same Amanda quote. The photograph stops being a half-page slab and becomes a print laid on the paper. This is the one that changes least and would ship soonest.

A life is not a date. It is a list of places.
The UK map carries the hero, and the six pinned places become a list underneath that does the real work: ask where somebody lived and you get a list, ask what happened there and you get the story. That is the free half of the business, on the homepage, doing its job.

One number, set enormous, and nothing else above the fold.
The closest thing to Kalso on this board, and the riskiest. It is arresting and it photographs well, but a bare year invites the reader to supply a second one, and a death date on a homepage is not the note this business opens on. Shown so the option is a decision rather than an omission.

The same drawing, twice: proposition, then question prompt.
Public-domain Natural Earth coastline, simplified hard so it reads as torn paper. Northern Ireland and Shetland are both in. It is not a coverage map and is never captioned as one.

Four questions, and none of them is which one looks nicest.
- 01The heroThe rolling year is the strongest thing here and the biggest commitment: it asks for a full screen and several scrolls before anybody reads a word about the service. B is the safe restyle, C is the map reposition, A is the static version of the year. They are not exclusive, the rolling year could open the homepage with B sitting directly under it.
- 02The cursorThe dot replaces the pointer on desktop. It is lovely and it is a real accessibility cost: people who track the pointer by its shape, or who need a high-contrast cursor, lose it. Worth doing on a full-bleed opening screen, harder to defend on a page of guides. Suggested compromise is the dot on the rolling year only, and the normal pointer everywhere else.
- 03The example lifeThe six places are invented and labelled as invented. Real ones from a family who gave permission would be better than anything written here, and would be the first genuinely unfakeable asset on the site.
- 04How far it goesThis board restyles a homepage. Forty-one live URLs share the same components, so a yes means a pattern pass across article pages, hubs, situations and gifts, not just this one page. Fraunces stays for that reading, whatever happens above it.
